What do you want others to know about lupus?

Lupus does not have a cure and it effects thousands of people everywhere. People should come together and find a cure for lupus, because it would help the lives of many desperate people. Even though lupus may be treated, it can never go away, and I believe we need to fix that.

Why is lupus a cruel mystery to you?

My older sister Suhaira was diagnosed with lupus when she was 16. While growing up even though we had a big age difference, she was still one of my best friends. Not only was she a close friend who I could come to for help, but she was my role model. When she was diagnosed things drastically began to change. She easily became tired, her hair began to fall out and she wasn't the same person she used to be. Even though I know that the same Suhaira is was still there, I felt as if lupus had eaten away at some of her greatest qualities. But, I never let lupus get in between us because we still are the best of friends, and we still laugh together and at the end of the day lupus or not, we love each other and I know I haven't lost the older sister I've always had.
