What do you want others to know about lupus?
The worse thing that you can do is define yourself by the disease. I am not lupus, I am a wife, mother, daughter, and piano teacher that happens to have lupus. If you integrate the disease into the other facets of your life, as opposed to becoming the "victim" of the disease, you will find your balance much quicker. It is crucial. Grateful always......
Why is lupus a cruel mystery to you?
My older sister was diagnosed at age 32, she is now 58 and confined to a nursing home. My mom was diagnosed at age 51, was able to manage her illness until the time of her death, September 28, 2010. She died of a brain tumor. It seems there has never been a time that lupus wasn't part of our family. Keeping the right perspective, and knowing that you are your best advocate is what has enabled me to manage. You must remain active in your treatment. Learning as much as you can will help you with the process. And always remain aware of what you are most grateful for. It feeds the soul and helps in keeping the lupus at bay. My best to you always............
