What do you want others to know about lupus?

I was diagnosed just a little over a year ago, but had symptoms for the past 20 years. No one every put two and two together. I rarely had any "sick" days because my immune system was in overdrive. While my kids and my husband came home with everything under the sun, I did not catch the colds, etc.

Why is lupus a cruel mystery to you?

The sun affects me negatively which is hard because we are a beach family. I am tired often after trying to do everything I've always done around the house. I can't work outside the home because I don't know when I will have a flare. My family really doesn't understand my problem and that stinks. They are used to me being "well". They think that I got sick when I got the diagnosis. They forget that I went to the doctor because I was feeling bad.
