What do you want others to know about lupus?

It is not a death sentence but rather a life style change. Sort of like a new chapter in your book of life. You must simply turn the page and forge forward.

Why is lupus a cruel mystery to you?

I think it had more of an negative impact on my life before I was positively diagnosed.I knew I was not crazy or a hyperchondriac. I missed out on my teen years to always being sick. Once I was diagnosed I was relieved. As an EMT I have been able to touch the lives of others with Lupus and simuliar conditions and have been a positive influence on some of them. Lupus has made me a better EMT, a better patient advocate. I have had some very tough times but I never back down.I lost a couple of years of not being able to work or volunteer as an EMT and now only volunteer, (my own schedule). As awful as Lupus is I have managed to find positives not just for me but for my patients.
