What do you want others to know about lupus?

I may not look sick but I struggle with Lupus. You wouldn't tell someone suffering from cancer that they don't look sick. However, don't treat me with pity just understanding. The body might not work so well but my mind is still sharp.

Why is lupus a cruel mystery to you?

I no longer have the life I did. Jumping up from bed and going on with my day-- a distance memory, laying out on the beach-- ha, my skin hasn't seen sun in years. Writing isn't always easier, a pen feels as if it weighs a hundred pounds and digging into my fingers. Dancing, Now I'm a wallflower when I danced the night away. Now I have to learn who and what I can accomplish all over again.
