What do you want others to know about lupus?

My mom was diagnosed with Lupus when she was twenty two years old. She was a young single mother at the time, and she spent many days in and out of the hospital in those first years. As the years went on my mom fought the effects of Lupus every single day. Lupus robs those who have it, it makes otherwise strong people weak and vurnerable!

Why is lupus a cruel mystery to you?

Having a primary parent who had Lupus was very scary for me because as a child my worst fear was that I would loss my mom. Watching my mom battle her own body was very difficult for me because I could not make her better. My mom was always very open about everything that she was going through with her Lupus and I appreciated that because it made an already scary situation more understandable. Lupus took my mom in 2007 at just 44yrs old, but her lessons and strength will live on through me for the rest of my life.
