What do you want others to know about lupus?

Lupus is a systemic autoimmune disease that can affect any part of the body. The problem with lupus is, people can't tell how sick you really are. That's one of the reasons lupus doesn't get the respect it deserves.

Why is lupus a cruel mystery to you?

My biggest struggle is getting friends and family to understand the disease. People always say, "You don't look sick." I wish I could just get them to understand the pain and tiredness I feel on any given day. It's frustrating to say the least. I have learned a lot about Lupus in the past 6 years, as I have educated myself as much as possible. I have found my Lupus can be managed. I listen to my body and try to take care of and control of my life. I have surrounded myself with loving, caring people and do my best to keep stress out of my life.
