What do you want others to know about lupus?

My sister lived with lupus for six years, until her body couldn't resist it anymore. She was 29 years old. It was very difficult while she was sick and it required a lot of care and expensive treatments. I wish I knew then what I know now about lupus. Many people I tell about it have never even heard of the disease, yet there are millions suffering from lupus.

Why is lupus a cruel mystery to you?

Losing my sister to lupus has been one of the most difficult things I've had to experience, especially because to me it seemed like a "ghost disease" took her life, a disease no one knew about. It's impacted me to want to join the voices of lupus and raise awareness. Knowing is key to a long lasting life with lupus and I don't want anyone else to go through the pain we we've been through.
